who loves the sun?

Three of the most boring things a blogger can write about are:

1) Writing.

2) Why they haven’t blogged in a while.

3) The weather.

I’ve done 1 & 2 many, many times.

Many.

Today I am going to treat you to #3.

Lucky!

As of yesterday, it had rained here for 12(ish) straight days.  At most, for that period, we got maybe an hour of sun on a few days.  We had mist.  We had fog.  We had thunder storms.  And we had torrential downpours.

Things I’ve learned:

1) There is no entry for “building an ark” on Wikipedia*.

2) During a stretch of a lot of rainy days, a little bit of sun will make me run outside to bask in it. (And possibly create and share graphic representations of same in MS Paint.)

3) I like making lists.

(*Wiki did tell me that: “In Greek mythology, Deucalion was a son of Prometheus and Pronoia. When the anger of Zeus was ignited against the hubris of the Pelasgians, Zeus decided to put an end to the Bronze Age with the Deluge.”

(You gotta watch that hubris.)

When I started writing this post, it was lovely and sunny.  This morning I actually went back into a few rooms because they were so bright that I thought I had forgotten a light on.

It has already started to cloud over.

Thankfully lovely ladies helped carry the load here last week, as I wasn’t doing a lot of my own writing — not for lack of trying.  (Yes, now I am boringly talking about writing.)

At one point, during a monsoon, I started working on a description of the main female character for the new novel idea, but it turned into a word doodle.  Of sorts.  This is what came out.  Let’s call it…

“fuck rain”

there are days
i’m telling you
there are days
— more lately
than before —
when i just
want

to find her

i want
her
to make me feel comfortable
i want
her
to excite me

but i’m a little pissed
at her

i feel
like
she’s watching
enjoying
making me
earn
it
sucks

i want
her
to
stop
the pain
isn’t
romantic

or poetic

i hate
the scars
aren’t
badges
of honour

on her
face
i want
to see
to know
you see?
you know?

fuck you

and yet
i write
these
words
humbleevenbymyownstandards

and yet
i hope
that if
i keep going
somehow
someway
the next ones
will become
magically
imbued
with more

blame her

remind me
to edit this

stream of conspicuousness

or something

i just

want

    So you really like rain?

You should give Texas a try. It’s been over 100 degrees almost exclusively for the last two weeks or so.

It’s winter in Cape Town. I spent yesterday tanning besides the swimming pool.

    OR
You could stay in Canada and head out west to Calgary! It’s always sunny here!

Yes, but a *writer* who blogs won’t make entries about writing or the weather boring. And a word doodle that feels like frustration at the edge of nothingness, seems a likely product of grey days barely tipped with a break of sunlight, or writing in endless circles. (Tho I mean that non-presumptively/subjectively.)

    No excuses for #2, however!

I thought I had something witty to say.

    Turns out, I don’t.

You drawing skills are still something I’m marveling at. Ditto your stationary creating skillz. Seriously. You could SELL that stationary.

I love the sun! And your word doodles. :)

Why there isn’t an article on building an arc on Wikipedia boggles my mind. That needs to be fixed immediately.

And can you send the rain my direction? It is so freaking hot and humid here that I cannot stand to be outdoors for more than a few minutes.
