Aw, PDW. You’re a far better writer than you give yourself credit for, because I’m touched and more than a little misty-eyed. You sound like a great uncle and she sounds like a strong, plucky little girl who can do anything she sets her mind to.

    Happy Birthday to your niece.

(Also, I’ll understand if you don’t want to, but I’d be honored to see this on Indie Bloggers if you’d care to submit.)

here’s to many more teddy bears in the bathroom with unc!

Wow. So, hi, I’m Clink. And this is the first post of yours I’ve read. And it brought me to the verge of tears while sitting here in my office.

She’s absolutely adorable. What a smile. And also, what a lucky girl to have such a great unc.

  4. Maggie says:

I’m such a sucker for your ACN posts. She’s such a little beauty and I’m so impressed with her spirit.

  5. Andrew says:

You’re the best uncle in the world.

  6. Steph says:

    Gah! You made me cry!
She is the luckiest little girl in the world to have you as her Unc.

    Happy Birthday ACN! xx

  7. MissE says:

Happy 6th Birthday, ACN!! You keep wrapping your Unc around your little finger. *grin* And make sure he buys you that pony!

How is it, with a heart as big as he appears to have from the wonderful stories he shares with us about you and all your adventures together, your Unc Pete is still single? Canadian women must be dense.

Hmmm, I really hope that second part doesn’t sound as dodgy as it seems but I am genuinely amazed by it.

Your writing didnt turn out too bad afterall. I hope she is doing great!

  9. James Cooper says:

Wow, ACN really made her way through a lot to get into this world didn’t she? She’s a trooper, she is, and she’s very lucky to have Unc DeWolf to watch over her (and buy her a pony).

That was one of the most touching things I’ve ever read. Your niece is beautiful! I know it’s a wee bit late, but happy birthday to her!

Now, go get her that pony, dammit! :)

stacy: Thanks so much. And “plucky” is a great way to describe the little twerp.

jazz: She hasn’t made me repeat that adventure… yet. But, have no fear, she totally keeps me busy. And giggles as she does it.

clink: Hi! And welcome. Thanks for the kind words. I suspect that I may be the smittenest Unc ever.

maggie: Thanks! She is quite the little charmer.

andrew: Thanks, man! It is something I strive to be. Then I ask her if I am, and she shakes her head “no” and giggles a tonne.

steph: Thanks! And sorry about the almost tears. It’ll be our secret. Shhhh.

miss e: Thanks! The pony is still very much planned. As for how I’m still single… Maybe I’m just underappreciated in my own country. Like David Hasslehoff.

neily: Thank you. Was a tough one to write. She really is doing great.

james: Thanks, dude. Little chick is my hero.

stephanie: Thank you! Even when I get her the pony, and ask her if she likes it, she’ll shake her head “no” and then grin at me.

    Beautiful, just beautiful :)
You reminded me of the ‘Uncle’ character in this children’s book:

When you were born / by Dianna Hutts Aston ; illustrated by E.B. Lewis.

Do read it if you get a chance :)

Respect to you and your family, love and prayers to your niece :)

I am sitting in the student library on campus as I read this.

This post made me tear up like a giant manbaby. I’m a sentimental pussy and this post plucked my heartstrings (wow…that sounds more cliche than I thought).

I am now a fan of you. I have read the most recent few posts up to this one and will probably read everything else in time.

You write incredibly well and should never stop.
